Histoy of Street Skateboarding

The first boards were starting to be made in the mid 70's. They were first called "banana board", it was made from a polycarbonate board that had ribs along the bottom to allow it to bend without breaking. When the 80's hit skateboarding was almost dead, no pro could make a living through the sport alone. All the videos made and all the skate companies were all underground. Natas Kaupas(creator of the trick "the nata spin"), Mark Gonzales, and other top skateboarders in the world began to get creative with with variations of vert and freestyle. The first street competition was held in Golden Gate Park in San Fransisco, California. After that street skateboarding has taken dips and dives in popularity with magazines, videos ,with the video cassete, but today is highest peek street skating has been taken to. Who will improve the movement? nobody knows.
