Bobby Doerr

        

Bobby Doerr was a red sox player from 1937 to 1951. He was elected to the All Star Game 9 different times. In 1986, he was voted into the Baseball Hall of Fame. He finished his career with a .288 batting average, 223 home runs, and 1,247 RBI's. He played second base. In 1944 he was voted American League Most Valuable Player by Sporting News. The next year he was enlisted into the Army, therefore he was unable to play. In the 1946 World Series loss to the St. Louis Cardinals, Doerr batted .406, and was often referred as the "silent captain for the Red Sox."
