Johnny Pesky

Johnny Pesky was a red sox player from 1942 to 1952. However, from 1943 to 1945, he did not play. He was elected to the All Star Game only one time in 1946. He was the first AL player to score 6 runs in a 9 inning game. He finished his career with a .307 batting average, 1,455 hits, and 404 RBI's. He played shortstop and third base. In honor of Pesky, the right field foul pole at Fenway Park, is known as Pesky's Pole. It is named that, because he hit a game winning homerun exactly where the pole stands today. Pesky was also manager for the Red Sox from 1963 to 1964, and for the year 1980. He compiled a record of 70-90.
